Seychelles Climate

The tropical climate of the Seychelles means it’s pretty much hot all year round. There are no extremes of hot or cold weather. Normal daily temperatures range between 24°C and 32°C. Instances of temperatures going above or below this are rare.

Seychelles does not have the typical four seasons of winter, spring, summer and autumn found in many places. The climate is instead influenced by the south-east and north-west trade winds.

The north-west trade winds blow from November to March and bring with it the rainy season. December and January are typically the wettest months. The temperature however remains warm and humidity high (around 80%). During this period, the sea is also generally much calmer.

The month of April sees a bit of a lull in the weather, when the trade winds are shifting. By this time, the rains have typically subsided, temperatures are high and humid and the seas lovely and calm.

From May to September, the south-east trade winds bring a relatively drier period with cooler weather and rougher seas. This is especially true for the south-eastern coasts.

The sun rises around 6 am each day and sets at around 6 pm in the evening, so there’s about 12 hours of daylight each day. Both the sun rise and sunsets in the Seychelles are some of the most breath-taking in the world.
