Seychelles is one of those places that tends to top the list when thinking about romantic honeymoon destinations. In all honesty, it’s not really hard to see why. For many newlyweds, the perfect honeymoon includes romantic walks along the beach, some fancy fine dining and lots of rest and relaxation. And we’re proud to say that Seychelles has all of this and much more. So here’s why you should choose to spend your honeymoon in Seychelles.

1) Amazing Sight-Seeing Opportunities

There is no shortage of amazing things to see and do while in Seychelles. The colourful mixture of culture and races, along with the incredible flora and fauna means you’ll have no trouble finding things to keep you busy. In fact, you’ll probably have difficulty in deciding what to do first. Here are a few ‘not-to-miss’ sights and activities you definitely want to be adding to your list.

A tour of the tiny capital of Victoria

It may be tiny compared to the likes of London or Paris, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less spectacular. From the colonial architecture, vibrant market stalls, galleries and museums, you’re sure to be amazed.

Botanical Gardens

If you’re interested in discovering more about some of Seychelles’ endemic plant life, then definitely visit the Botanical Gardens. It’s only about a 10 minute walk from the edge of Victoria.

Vallee De Mai

The second largest island, Praslin, should also be on your list of islands to visit. Here you’ll find the Vallee de Mai, a UNESCO World Heritage site and home to the endemic Coco De Mer Palm.

L’Union Estate

La Digue is the home of the famous Anse Source d’Argent beach as well as L’union Estate. Wander through to see the old copra house as well as the burial grounds of La Digue’s first settlers. Don’t forget to feed the giant tortoises and finish the walk off with a relaxing swim at Anse Source d’Argent.

2) Experience the vibrant underwater world

Diving and snorkelling are popular activities for holiday-makers to the Seychelles, and for good reason. Seychelles has some of the best diving spots in the world and many travel great distances for the opportunity to swim alongside our incredible sea life.

3) Hiking trails with breath-taking views

Seychelles has a number of hiking trails where you can enjoy being closer to nature while at the same time taking in gorgeous views of the surrounding ocean and islands. You should definitely try and fit in at least one hike during your holiday.

4) Enjoy some fine Seychellois cuisine

Whether you’re staying at a fancy hotel or in self-catering accommodation, be sure to dine out in one of Seychelles’ top restaurants at least once. Most will offer a variety of cuisine so there’s sure to be something on the menu for all parties. La Scala in Bel Ombre and Del Place in Port Glaud are both really great options for Mahe.

5) Local shopping

Although shopping may not be on your list of to-do’s while in Seychelles, try and check out some of the local souvenir shops. You’ll be amazed at the items you can find. Seychellois artists and crafts men and women are incredibly talented and most of what they create is made out of local products or recycled items. You’re bound to find something special to take back with you as a memento of your holiday.

A visit to the Eden Island Plaza is another great way to spend an afternoon. Choose from a number of restaurants to grab a bite, then have a wander around the shops before relaxing in the afternoon sun while gazing out at the sea.
